Hey guys and gals,
I know not everyone who read this blog is into After Effects, but I really haven't posted anything interesting about After Effects on this blog yet, so I figured since I have spent so much of my life in that application I should give you guys something.
To put me to sleep tonight I was skimming
this article about Apple's Motion compared to AE and one of the reasons it gives for After Effects users liking Motion is the simple Motion to FCP and back integration. Yes that integration is amazing but sometimes you still need the complexities that After Effects has to offer, so you want to throw your FCP timeline into AE to add some really crazy effects or whatever. Instead of using the over priced
Automatic Duck method you can use a simple script that is found at
AEscripts.com. Throw this into your scripts folder, load up your footage into AE, run the script and it will detect all of your cuts, making new layers for each of them. It's pretty handy when you're working with a large amount of visual effects shots in a row, or if you want to do motion graphics over the top and in between a lengthy pre edited sequence. This script is humorously named
Magnum - Edit Detector.
AEscripts.com also has a script for the all amazing
background render, that allows you to keep working as your rendering! It's great, you should get it if your doing allot of animating and need to keep working while rendering test movies and finished projects in the background.
